Some Architects dream about working in a place like Carmel, California – Eric Miller Architects of Monterey is doing it. They’re the Architects behind this first-class California Beach Cottage. Ok, “cottage” is a bit of an understatement – it’s one the nicest “cottages” we’ve ever seen – but it’s not very big, and that’s one of things that make it a cottage in our minds.
But who needs tons of space when you have the whole California coastline to live on? Can you believe that view? If you had to choose between wall cabinets or windows in this kitchen, you’d choose windows, right?
The reason the all-white palette in this California beach cottage works so well is that it doesn’t distract from the views. But the Architect’s didn’t stop there, they made sure the trim and ceiling details had plenty of visual interest – it adds a lot of character to the house.
That wonderful all-white palette and the trim and ceiling details aren’t just downstairs, they’re all through the house including the nursery, master bedroom, and master bath.
There’s something about the scale of this house – from the outside it really hugs the ground, and on the inside, it’s cozy and intimate.
