This is the low country white siding cottage we’ve always dreamed of – nice and compact, just 2,200 square feet, with a metal roof and a live-in screened porch. It’s in Bluffton, South Carolina, just a short drive from Hilton Head Island (one of our favorite places anyway!).
The cozy family room is centered around a lovely fireplace, with built-in shelving on both sides. The TV’s in the right place, off to one side on not over the fireplace! (that’s a pet peeve of ours!).
Turn around and look back towards the kitchen, now you see how family-friendly this home really is. We can imagine spending warm evenings here with the whole family. Love the breakfast bar island and especially the doors opening up to the screened porch!
It really is a great little kitchen – high end appliances and a nice galley layout. The white paneling on all of the walls adds to the charm.
This is the part we love best – this screened porch runs the width of the house – a dining/card/games table at one end, a cozy seating area at the other. I know I’d be cooking out every night on the grille!
Rocking chairs on the front porch are such an iconic “Southern” thing, right? We’d have a hard time deciding whether to hang out on the front porch or the back!
A metal roof complements this white siding cottage and helps the house stand up to the hot low country sunshine.
With sliding doors opening to the screened porch, the master suite becomes part of the flow of the house.
From what we can see, the master bath looks big enough without being too huge.
A couple of second floor bedrooms and a bath tucked up under the roof, just waiting for visiting guests.
We’re suckers for just about anything low country! This house pushes all of our buttons for the perfect South Carolina getaway!
