You heard that right. “Rustic” and “luxurious” aren’t often used to describe the same house. Which is exactly what we like about this little place in Hot Springs, Virginia – it’s a yee-haw corncob pipe rustic log cabin on the outside, and a very, very nice family retreat on the inside.
Seriously, on an afternoon hike in the Virginia woods you might walk right by this 2,200 square foot house. You might notice the the custom wood door and the Adirondack porch furniture, but that’s not even close to a clue about what’s inside.
That’s one cozy family room! We love the log walls, can’t even begin to imagine this room in drywall!
We can easily imagine ourselves hanging out in this kitchen and breakfast room, however. The slate floor and the candle chandeliers should be on anyone’s list for a rustic log cabin home.
This home was professionally decorated and it shows – no cast-off mismatched furniture like you see in a lot of vacation homes! And it’s for sale completely furnished!
Upstairs in the loft, the decor begins to transition away from the “all logs all the time” theme. This step up leads to a pretty nice master suite.
The bedrooms and baths are as nice as any home, and way better than what we expected in a “log cabin”.
OK, this house pushes the limits of “modest”, but keeping a house size under control allows you to spend a little more on the finer things. We love it!
